Hedgehog

hedgehog
monica during the first few days of nanowrimo in her box. she spent about ten days in the shed being fed worms and cat food and being a pain of a distraction until we got sick of the stink, and began worrying about contracting some vile hedgehog disease. There was obviously nothing wrong with her apart from being small. She didn’t even have any fleas. I made her a super delux hedgehog house (using up valuable writing time I may add) out of coir, bubble wrap and straw, placed thoughtfully in a sheltered spot in the garden which she promptly vacated after half a day in favour of the clump of wrapped up banana plants. fair enough. she’s still a famished wee thing and we’re still putting cat food out for her. hope she gets fat enough by the time it gets really cold.

UPDATE
Had a bit of a nasty moment about a week ago when I found a very flat hedgehog right outside the house in the middle of the road. It’s not easy to tell how big the animal was in life when it’s squished flat.
However, it wasn’t tiny Monica. She’s been eating the food we’ve left out and has been sighted during daylight hours chomping away. Latest sighting was today (30th Nov) at 2.30 in the afternoon.
